Information for new users
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service provided to eligible patrons to supply items not owned by the Elihu Burritt Library. ILL staff strive to locate most requested materials, however we cannot get everything.
Materials Not Available Through Interlibrary Loan
- Textbooks (books needed for an entire semester)
- Books owned by the Burritt Library or currently available for loan through the CCSU catalog
- Entire issue of journals or periodicals
- Some theses and dissertations
- Some audio-visual materials (videos, CDs, DVDs)
- Books recently published (within the past several months)
- Rare books and other fragile, old materials
Who is eligble to use ILL?
All currently registered students, faculty, and staff are eligle to use ILL services. All other community borrowers should use their own local town libraries to make ILL requests.
There are no costs to use ILL services. The only charges are for those who return items late. A fine of 25¢ a day per item will be calculated.
How to Submit Requests
WARNING! Before submitting an Interlibrary Loan Request please be sure to check the CCSU collection via the catalog. We will not process any request for books or journal articles that are already part of our collection! Requests for books located at ECSU, SCSU, or WCSU may be placed directly from the catalog.
All Interlibrary Loan requests will be submitted through the CCSU ILLiad system. First time users will need to create an account in ILLiad before requesting materials.
Articles are generally filled within a few days and are delivered to the patron via email as a PDF. Books and other items such as media can take up to 7-10 days to arrive. We will notify you electronically when the material arrives and the items can be picked up at the Circulation Desk located on the first floor of the library.
