Technical Support and Off Campus Access

This guide provides tips about accessing library materials both on and off campus, as well as what to do with security warnings when accessing library databases.

Security Certificate Warnings

When trying to access certain databases (RefWorks, SciFinder Scholar, CCH) while off-campus, your web browser may display one of the Security Certificate warnings shown below.  This problem is caused by a discrepancy between the University's authentication system and the database's security system.

If you encounter one of the errors messages below, please do the following:

 

"Continue to this website" for Internet Explorer

IE 7 Security Certificate Warning

 

 

"Add an Exception" for Firefox

Firefox 3.0 Security Certificate Warning

"Proceed" for Chrome

Click on Show Details--then the option to proceed will be available

 

"Continue" for Safari

Safari Security Certificate Warning
