The Elihu Burritt Library Celebrates Central’s 175th Anniversary

This exhibit showcases the evolution of Central Connecticut State University from its beginnings as the New Britain Normal School, Connecticut's first public institution of higher education. It highlights the university's transformation into the Teachers College of Connecticut, Central Connecticut State College, and now Central Connecticut State University.

Exhibit Highlights

The exhibit features a range of archival materials from the University Archives, including:

    • Rare books and materials from the Connecticut Polish American Archives and GLBTQ Archives held by the Elihu Burritt Library
    • Current digital collections that continue to preserve the university’s legacy are available at the Connecticut Digital Archive
