Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan is the document delivery service that supplies library materials not owned by Elihu Burritt Library to CCSU library users. Reciprocally, this service also supplies books and photocopies to other libraries for the use by their patron
Eligibility for Services
Only CCSU faculty, staff, and students are eligible for Interlibrary loan services at the Elihu Burritt Library. Community borrowers with guest borrower cards must utilize their town libraries to obtain Interlibrary Loan services.

Materials Not Available Through Interlibrary Loan

Textbooks (books needed for an entire semester)

Books owned by the Burritt Library

Entire issue of journals or periodicals

Some theses and dissertations

For Faculty: Copyright & Fair Use
In an effort to comply with copyright laws, Burritt Library will order up to five articles from any journal title published within the past five years from other libraries. The sixth and any subsequent articles ordered will be purchased from a copyright cleared document delivery service. Burritt Library will pay no more than $500 in copyright fees per faculty member during a given calendar year. Articles requested in excess of this will be returned to the patron.
Delivery
Most requests for articles are filled on average within a few days (excluding weekends and holidays). Requests for books or media take on average 7-10 working days and is dependent on where the item(s) is coming from. We will notify you electronically when the material arrives. Interlibrary Loan books must be picked up at the Circulation desk.
