Library Services Academic Year 20-21

This is a guide about CCSU library services for the 2020-21 academic year., including information about hours & services available for students, faculty, and guests, both in-person and online. Due to the pandemic, many of our services have shifted online

In order to ensure the health and safety of CCSU students, faculty, staff, and the public, the Elihu Burritt Library will be operating under modified procedures

The library's staff members thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.This guide explains how to use the library services, both in-person and online. We attempt to keep up with changing policies, so please check back regularly. For Summer on-ground library services are available for faculty and students during the following hours (subject to change)*:

icon of doors half openProtecting the health of the CCSU community during the coronavirus is the overarching principle guiding the opening of the Elihu Burritt Library in the 2020-21 academic year. Service levels have changed. Here's what you need to know:

How do I get a book from the library?
Request your material online, then pick up "curbside." More info found on Getting Books
What should I know if I visit the library building?
Masks and social distancing are required. No food or drink is allowed. Library stacks are closed to users. icon of doors half open
Will computers be available for use?
There are 11 computers on the 2nd floor & 5 computers on the 4th floor available for current CCSU students and faculty only. These machines have "SaniType" keyboards that are easy to clean. There are disinfecting wipes available on both floors. Patrons are responsible for wiping the keyboard and mouse down, before and after each use.
What about WiFi?
The library offers students, faculty, and staff wireless network access.See the  IT department's Wireless Network page
How about if I need help with Research or have other questions?
Librarians can help you through an online chat-based "help desk" and you can book a librarian for live Webex-based consultations and research help..
I'm a faculty do I request online instruction sessions, place items on reserve, and other request other services I am used to?

Are there printers I can use?
No, unfortunately, for sanitary reasons, there are no printers available within the Library. Printing is available in the Student Center; instructions found here.
How can I access Special Collections/Archives?
Limited scan & pick-up service is available. See details on our Special Collections & Archives guide.
How do I get an item on Course Reserve?
