Hello! This LibGuide has been specifically designed for your EDS: Research in Education class. For best results, consult each section (see the tabs across the top of this page?) as it corresponds with the phase of research that you are in.
Use Determine Need for when you are:
-picking or adjusting your topic
-wondering when to look at journals and when to look at books
-deciding whether to seek qualitative or quantitative research
Use Search for when you are:
-unsure where to find your search options
-unsure of which to use: CentralSearch, the databases, or the catalog?
-getting a lot of irrelevant results--or few to no results at all--and are getting frustrated
Use Cite/Avoid Plagiarism when you are:
-wondering what plagiarism is, so that you can avoid it
-ready to read CCSU's policy on Academic Integrity (VERY IMPORTANT)
-quoting and citing a source in your literature review or other research project
-putting together your bibliography
Research is a process that is sometimes circular and always unique, so don't be surprised or discouraged if you find yourself returning to the earlier tabs even as you get fairly deep into your research, or if you start to need to use the tabs out of order! The guide is meant to guide you with what you need; when you need it is up to you, and where your research takes you!
There is also a selection of materials recommended by your professor (pulled from the same list contained within your syllabus), under the tab Recommended Resources. These have been broken down into sections by topic, which you will see in the drop-down menu under the tab.
