CCSU's Minor in Applications of AI is now open for enrollment! CCSU offers an amazing AI Lab and AI-enabled classrooms, located in Vance. An interdisciplinary approach allows students from any area of study to gain skills in these emerging technologies. The AI revolution is here and it's touching everyone's lives.
Faculty librarians have built and are instructing the core LSC160 course - "Information Exploration in the AI Era" - a curriculum that will build AI and Information Literacy (high level research) skills, all of which will be invaluable to our students. Our interdisciplinary, human-centered, and ethics-based approach to AI allows us to explore the many potential benefits and harms of this technology. We are also instilling a growth / learning to learn mindset, so that our students skills can evolve as the technology and workplace does.
This course provides a critical understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) within the broader information landscape. Emphasis is placed on ethically and effectively applying AI tools in finding, evaluating, and using information resources available across all formats (e.g., digital, print, video) that facilitate information exploration and discovery to make more informed decisions throughout life. Focal points include general education concepts such as ethical dimensions, information literacy, and critical thinking. This course explores the impact of cultural biases on algorithms and equitable access to information.
Our enrollment caps at 25, so please consider registering for this course as soon as you can for Spring semester.
