Scite AI tool added to CCSU's Library Resources

The university and library are pleased to announce that for this 2024-25 Year of AI, CCSU has subscribed to the Scite.AI research tool. For more information on the tool, see its database page at https://libguides.ccsu.edu/az/scite.

"With scite you can search over 100M publications to find how research is being talked about, and whether citing publications are providing support or have different results than the cited work. By using scite search you will not only be able to find the highest quality research but you will be able to easily see gaps, methodological flaws, differing results, and other issues pointed out by other authors." - scite tutorials (Advanced Search)

In case you're wondering what you can do with scite & what options it offers, here's some ideas:

• Run a reference check of citations in an article / paper
• Use scite to speed up literature reviews and find gaps in scholarship and to conduct systematic reviews / meta analyses
• Create custom dashboards on a topic / paper - can import from your Zotero citation manager
• (For students especially!) Write a term paper with the help of scite to ensure that the information you are including is scholarly and reputable
  • Find scholarly articles and winnow out to the ones appropriate to your research question
  • Understand the content of a scholarly article, aspects of the research it covers (e.g., methodologies, how well-supported it is by other scholars, etc.)
  • Check references
• Evaluate scholarship - see what others are saying about a paper
• Set alerts on topics of interest
• Identify the "experts in a field"
• Use a scholarly research-oriented AI chatbot - the scite Research Assistant - to understand papers and topics of interest (lower hallucination rates than more generalized AI chatbots due to the RAG architecture)
